Church announcement scripts: six samples and a template

Complete scripts you can read this Sunday or drop into a video, written the way we write for 100+ churches every week. Each one runs 25 to 45 seconds out loud.

By Justin Driedger, Owner of Pro Video Announcements · Drawn from 25,000+ produced announcements

Every script below follows the same skeleton: who it is for, what it is, when and where, one next step. That order is not a style choice. Across tens of thousands of scored scripts, announcements that lead with the person and end on a single ask consistently outperform announcements that lead with the program name. Read them aloud once; the rhythm matters more on the ear than on the page. When you are done, see the same principles at work in our produced video examples, or go deeper with the writing guide.

1. Sermon series launch

Script · about 35 seconds

If prayer has ever felt like something everyone else is better at, the next four weeks are for you.

This Sunday we start Teach Us to Pray, a new series walking through the prayer Jesus actually gave his friends, one line at a time. No experience required, no impressive words needed.

It starts this Sunday at 10 AM in the main auditorium, and it is a perfect first Sunday for a friend. Grab an invite card in the lobby and bring somebody with you.

Why it works: the opening line names a felt need before the series name ever appears, and the single ask is inviting a friend, not five separate links.

2. Women's brunch

Script · about 30 seconds

Ladies, some of the best conversations happen over pancakes, and you are invited to a morning full of them.

The fall women's brunch is Saturday, October 18 at 9:30 AM in the fellowship hall. Great food, honest conversation, and a short word from Maria on friendship in busy seasons. Bring a friend or come solo; you will not be sitting alone.

Tickets are ten dollars, and sign-ups close this Wednesday. Grab your spot at the table in the lobby.

Why it works: it answers the two quiet fears that keep people home, going alone and awkward seating, and it names a real deadline, which is what actually moves sign-ups.

3. Baptism Sunday

Script · about 35 seconds

Some of you have been following Jesus for a while now, and the next step has been sitting on your heart longer than you would like to admit.

Baptism Sunday is two weeks away, on November 2, in both services. If you have questions about what baptism means or whether you are ready, we would love to talk it through with you, no pressure and no assumptions.

Text the word BAPTISM to our church number, or stop by the Next Steps table after service. We will walk with you from there.

Why it works: it speaks directly to the hesitant person rather than making a general announcement, and the next step is a conversation, which is the honest size of the ask.

4. Serve day

Script · about 40 seconds

Here is a Saturday that will be worth being tired for.

On October 25 we are sending teams all over the city for Serve Day: yard work for seniors, painting at the elementary school, and a full sort day at the food bank. There is a spot that fits you, whether you can swing a hammer or just hold a paint roller with confidence.

Teams run from 9 AM to noon, and kids are welcome on two of the sites, so it makes a great family morning.

Pick your team this week at the Serve Day wall in the lobby. Spots are first come, first served.

Why it works: concrete pictures, yard work, paint rollers, a sort day, do the selling. Vague service language like "make a difference" never survives contact with a Saturday morning.

5. Youth camp deadline

Script · about 30 seconds

Parents, this one is a deadline, so grab your phone.

Winter camp registration for students in grades 6 through 12 closes this Friday. It is January 16 to 18 at Pine Ridge, and it is the weekend our students talk about all year. The cost is 189 dollars, and scholarships are available; just ask, we mean it.

Register at the youth table or on the church app before Friday. After that, the bus is full.

Why it works: it tells you exactly who should act, what it costs, and when the door closes. The scholarship line removes the silent barrier without making anyone raise a hand.

6. Giving update

Script · about 35 seconds

A few months ago this church gave toward the kids' wing renovation, and we want you to see what your generosity did.

The new check-in area is open, the toddler room is finished, and this Sunday 240 kids walked into spaces that feel safe, bright, and ready for them. That happened because you gave.

If you call this church home and want to be part of what is next, you can give any time at the giving kiosk or through the church app. Thank you for being the kind of church that shows up.

Why it works: it reports before it asks. Gratitude with specifics builds more generosity than urgency ever has.

The fill-in template

Line 1, the hook: name the person this is for or the feeling it answers. Not the program name.

Line 2, the what: what it is, in one plain sentence, with the date, time, and place spoken exactly as people say them.

Line 3, the objection: answer the quiet reason someone would not come: cost, childcare, going alone, not being ready.

Line 4, the next step: one ask, one place to do it, one deadline if there is one. Stop talking after the next step.

Five mistakes we see every week

Common questions

How long should a church announcement script be?

Aim for 60 to 110 words per announcement, which lands between 25 and 45 seconds spoken. A full weekly video with four or five announcements should stay under three minutes.

What makes a church announcement script effective?

Lead with who it is for, make one concrete ask, name the exact time and place, and end on the next step. Write for the ear: short sentences, plain words, no inside language.

Can someone write and produce our announcements for us?

Yes. We produce a hosted, branded announcement video from your script every week, and the Next Steps Engine coaches and upgrades your script before filming. The Two Free Sundays trial produces your first two weeks free.

Write it Tuesday. Watch it Friday.

Send us a script like these and a produced, hosted video comes back by Friday noon. Two Free Sundays, nothing charged during your trial.
